Joseph P. Lombard
FounderThe early days Corinthian Insurance Agency has been helping the horse and farming community to protect their farms and families with only the best in insurance coverage and service for over 30 years. In the early days Joseph Lombard, the agency’s founder, used the vestibule of his home as Corinthian’s first official office. After his two sisters would leave for work, Joe would move his desk away from the back wall and place it in a suitable position to greet incoming prospects and clients. He would then pull a phone out through the window, unravel the tail cord and place the phone on his desk. Placing his business cards and brochures in a convenient corner of the desk, making sure he had plenty of applications for both horse and farm insurance and placing his name plate so all could see, Corinthian Insurance Agency was open for business! Back then there were very few choices when it came to insurance for horses and farms. Most agents represented only one company and had one product to offer. With so little choice it was a “take it or leave it” attitude and most people took it rather than go without coverage. So in 1984 Joe decided to start an independent agency with more than one company to offer clients. He would compare rates to find the best coverage for the best price. Joe’s background gave him a really good understanding of how best to protect clients’ farms and families, including horses. Joe grew up on his family’s traditional New England farm growing corn and other crops to be sold or fed to the livestock. The Lombard farm sold everything from eggs to pork until it was converted to a riding stable in the late 1970’s. Saddle Rowe Farm was started with the help of Joe’s late wife June Lombard and their six children, as the love of horses has been one the greatest joys the whole family share. On most weekends you could find Joe judging a horse show, often in a cloud of dust, studying the riders competing for his approval and the blue ribbon. He would often be seen smiling brightly as he offered young riders words of encouragement and inspiration after a disappointing performance. Soon the word was out that Joe was providing farm and horse insurance; earning the trust and business of the farming community one client at time. A few years after starting the agency his son Scott Lombard joined the ranks of Corinthian. Scott became second in command in an agency of three in 1990. Together they began building the first generation of our Corinthian Family. Today, when not in the office, Joe can be found giving lessons or eating at restaurants around town.
J Scott. LombardScott grew up on his family’s farm and therefore is very familiar with every aspect of the wonderful animal we call “horse”. He knows firsthand of the daily responsibilities that go along with farming, even on Christmas. While in school he and his brothers were called upon to help feed and water the horses before heading off to catch the school bus. After school, if not involved in any after school activities, they had to head back out to the barn to help with turnout, bring up hay and grain, and help clean the stalls….which was by far his favorite chore (not!). This familiarity enables Scott to better protect a horse or stable owner because he has been there and done that!. As a young man Scott left home at the ripe age of 19 and joined the US Marines. When his commitment to the military was completed Scott lived in Alexandria VA for several years, working as an independent sales representative and taking part-time classes in a community college. He found his way back to New England in the early 1980’s and began working as a professional in communications, primarily as a Marketing and Sales representative. Scott eventually joined up with his dad, Joe Lombard, in 1990 and began working to bring Corinthian Insurance to its present status as the agency of choice in New England. He feels the agency’s success is a combination of the quality of our clients, colleagues, friends and family throughout the Northeast region. Scott and Joe are both very proud of that! Scott currently resides in Medway, MA and has an awesome daughter who is a student in college. They have fun playing music together and hanging out at the barn. He has attained his CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and his AFIS (Agricultural and Farm Insurance Specialist) designations which only 10% of insurance professionals ever complete. When he is not working he is usually found hanging out with his family and friends. His hobbies include riding, music, fishing, reading, writing and more fishing. Scott is now the president of Corinthian Insurance Agency and together with his team of licensed farm and equine insurance professionals are building the next chapter in Corinthian Insurance Agency’s history.
MEET OUR TEAM
Office ManagerAmy grew up in a small town in Maine, riding from the time she was 7. She competed in both dressage and hunter classes at the local level as well as participated in the Junior Nationals in swimming. She still has a closet full of Breyer horses at her parent’s home which were her prized possessions when younger. Amy graduated from the University of Maine in Orono and lived in Virginia before settling in Massachusetts with her husband. Her hobbies are: cooking, reading, and exercising; and she is an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. When not in the office Amy can be found in the garden, exercising or cooking up some healthy dish. Time with family and friends plays an important part as well and include camping trips, hikes and fishing. When asked about why she got into Insurance, Amy said, “I was looking for a new challenge, and when I saw there was insurance for horses and farms I had to look into it! Plus, it was a part time career to begin with, which allowed me to participate in my son’s life more fully, volunteering in the classroom, being a soccer coach and watching him play sports. Now that he’s in college, I enjoy working full time and talking to the many people we work with; helping them to protect what’s important in THEIR lives.” Amy Richards is a Massachusetts licensed Property & Casualty agent and is also a Certified Insurance Service Representative and she runs the office here at Corinthian Insurance.
Insurance agentKatie grew up in Berlin Massachusetts as a horse crazy young girl where she began to pave her path in the equine industry at an early age. She worked as a farm hand in a Dressage barn for five years and also at Dover Saddlery in customer service while searching for an equine related college degree that would turn her passion into a living. She graduated in 2017 from Cazenovia College in New York where she received a degree in Equine Business Management and a certificate in Equine Reproductive Management. Katie’s motto is “never turn down an opportunity to learn something new”. She was the first to sign up for volunteering and attended seminars, events and classes that allowed her to expand her knowledge. At college she attended riding classes including Hunter/Jumpers, Western Trial, Dressage, and Ranch Riding. Katie even taught lessons to other students with the intention of becoming a licensed instructor. Outside of her college curriculum she had an unforgettable summer of Eventing in schooling shows, attended a seminar for Vaulting, and volunteered at a carriage driving competition. After college Katie returned to HITS Horse Show where she completed her senior internship. She soon became the Stable and Feed manager and traveled with the horse show to NY, VA, and CA. After 5 years in New York she has returned to Massachusetts and is now working at Corinthian Insurance Agency as the Equine Insurance Specialist. When she is not working in the office she enjoys quality time with her family and friends. Whenever the opportunity presents itself she enjoys riding horses or just hanging out with them. Additionally, Katie loves to cook and likes watching soccer and football; however lately she has been focused on renovating her house which as we all know is a big project and at times seems never-ending. Katie likes her new role in helping horse owners protect their beloved horses which she finds rewarding and important……especially when a horse gets sick, injured or worse. She is there to assist her clients in clarifying coverage, securing new policies, processing renewals, billing issues and claims support. We are so glad to have her on board as our newest team member.
